Toll Death of Turkish Earthquake Increase

The number of victims of an earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter Scale in eastern Turkey has currently reached 270 people. As many as dozens of people reportedly still trapped in the rubble. The Turkish government hopes the death toll will not be high as what they predicted earlier, namely 1,000.

Rescuers also appear side by side rescue victims trapped in rubble. Heavy equipment used by rescuers seemed used to menganggkut concrete-concrete. Tents were set up, it appears also emergency health posts and soup kitchens to help thousands of people homeless. Similarly, as reported by the Associated Press on Monday (10/24/2011).

ERCIS, a city that borders with Iran is a place that suffered the worst damage caused by the earthquake. ERCIS is also a city that often become the epicenter. Currently, 80 buildings in the City of ERCIS reportedly collapsed. "Over the evacuation of victims, the death rate in the City of ERCIS is likely to increase but will not be too high," said Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin.

Hundreds of prisoners from the city of Van also used the incident to escape the earthquake. Prisoners in the city wall collapsed as a result 150 prisoners escaped, however 50 of them had returned. Turks seemed poised outside his home because of aftershocks feared to appear.

Approximately 1275 rescue of 38 provinces in Turkey has also been deployed to the region, they are aided by the Turks. Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey and Bulgaria also assist in the rescue.
